# OfferGuard

> Promo abuse prevention and rewards for Shopify checkout. One identity engine decides who qualifies for a new-customer offer, who earns referral credit or loyalty points, and who pays full price. Server-side, under 100 ms, guest checkout included.

OfferGuard is a Shopify app built by ViralPilot, an ecommerce SaaS agency in Germany. It runs inside Shopify's Checkout Extensions and Shopify Functions, so decisions are made server-side before the order completes and cannot be bypassed from the browser. ## What OfferGuard does

- Verifies whether a buyer is new by matching seven identity signals against completed orders: normalized email (Gmail dots and plus aliases stripped, relay and disposable domains flagged), phone (last ten digits), shipping address (building-level match after abbreviation and unit normalization), billing address, IP address, passive device fingerprint, and a first-party visitor cookie set on the first page view.
- Enforces "limit one per customer" as a lifetime rule per signal, so a buyer with a new email, a new account, or a guest checkout is still recognized. Shopify's native setting checks only the email or customer account.
- Checkout verdicts, set per rule: block the checkout for the protected product; warn and let the order through; withhold incentive (the order proceeds at full price and only the reward is dropped); invalidate a gated discount code at entry; allow and apply a reward automatically.
- Rewards without discount codes: free shipping, a percentage off, a fixed amount, or a product-level discount, minted as a signed token and applied by a Shopify discount function. Rewards can be limited to a list of countries.
- Post-purchase actions: order and customer tags, a Shopify risk assessment on the order, hold fulfillment for review, cancel the order with refund or void, and an order note naming the rule.
- Discount code gating: referral and new-customer codes are removed at entry when the buyer does not qualify. A Bubblehouse referral template ships; other apps' codes are matched by segment or title pattern the merchant sets.
- Discount exclusivity: any discount code is removed while protected products are in the cart.
- Native referral program (Enterprise plan): share links on the thank-you page, referrer rewards paid as Shopify store credit with a hold date recorded, clawback when the referred order is refunded past half its value, a 30-day cap per referrer, and self-referrals blocked by matching the sharer against the buyer.
- Native loyalty program (Enterprise plan): points earned on paid orders after discounts, redeemed at checkout with a slider, tiers (Member, VIP, Elite), achievements, a free-product redemption catalog, refund clawback, and a storefront rewards page.
- Apple Wallet (Enterprise plan): a loyalty card pass with live points balance and referral code, Apple Wallet Orders tracking for iOS 16 and later, push notifications through APNs, and web push.
- Shipping rules: show a named shipping rate only when the whole cart ships from one warehouse, route qualifying orders to that location, and discount the gated rate.

## What OfferGuard does not do

- It is not a chargeback guarantee or payment-fraud scoring service. Signifyd, NoFraud, and Riskified cover that layer.
- It has no free-gift or buy-one-get-one reward type at checkout.
- It has no store-wide customer blocklist; blocking is configured per product rule.

- Watchdog: free. One rule, 50 checks per month, email and disposable-domain signals, zero-total order blocking.
- Sentinel: $29 per month. Unlimited rules and checks, all identity signals, checkout offers, risk analysis.
- Fortress: $79 per month. Adds checkout enforcement through the cart validation function and per-rule code rejection.
- Enterprise: $900 per month. Adds the native loyalty program, native referral program, Apple Wallet passes with push, and web push.
